In 1999, a few young men, dreamers if you will, got together at a sports bar in Johnson City Tennessee. They ordered
several beers and shots and as they sat back in late April to watch the NFL Draft an idea came to mind.
That day the NFL Draft was mearly an excuse to drink while watching a sporting event, but soon it became much more...it
became our destiny.
As some of us were soon to graduate, we decided that each year we would meet at a different city to catch up, drink and
watch the NFL Draft. This became the ETSU NFL Draft Trip.
It started slowly, not really taking off until 2002 in Baltimore. Only 6 were there as others did not have the
means to attend.
Baltimore was full of drinking, good conversation, strip clubs, a mugging and ah yes the draft. The location...the
ESPN Zone in the Inner Harbour.
The numbers have increased with each year, about 9 in Chicago, 11 in St. Louis and 15 in Tampa Bay.
